After the silence
Comes fear from the pain
The fall and it’s harvest
Of a sorrowful rain.
The coldness of winter
Overtaking my mind
No shelter to seek
In eyes so unkind.
After the silence
Come screams from a child
The screams never heard
Uncontrollable, wild.
Will anyone run to
The sad girl in peril?
Or will she be left to play with
The wolves feral?
After the silence
I feel daylight getting near
The staleness of it stays by us
With each passing year.
Night is a time to me
Deceptively my friend
Every moment is a battle
That seems to have no end.
After the silence
Comes more of the same
Just trying to survive
Has driven me insane.
The madness of a wasted youth
Is now long gone
Leaving me barely able
To hold on.
After the silence
I cry a tear of hope
A chance to unburden
The body they groped
They can’t hold me back
With threats of violence
Cause its my turn to speak
After the silence.
Comes fear from the pain
The fall and it’s harvest
Of a sorrowful rain.
The coldness of winter
Overtaking my mind
No shelter to seek
